Members of China's only legal, pro-democracy movement stood on the stone balcony of Hong Kong's legislature at the stroke of midnight Saturday, hoping to show their seven million fellow citizens, 1.3 billion Chinese to the north and the rest of the world that their dream of democracy remains alive in Hong Kong.
But that goal remains elusive ten years after Britain relinquished its prized colony to China's Communist regime on July 1, 1997.

China is still a one party state, though no longer communist, and it will not allow full democracy, but will maybe allow a limited form.
