NEWS & INFORMATION Newsvine.com
Today's Top Stories See what everybody is talking about right now, and add your two cents. That's the basic idea behind Newsvine.com, a Web 2.0 cocktail that mixes elements of Digg (social news), Netvibes (customization) and NowPublic (user-generated news). The most prominently placed articles are the ones voted most important by users. You can plant your own "seeds" on the vine, i.e. links to stories from elsewhere on the Web, along with your comments, to start a discussion. You can also change the page layout by adding RSS feeds and moving the boxes around. Most articles come from familiar sources (Associated Press, The New York Times, BBC) but Newsvine also invites members to write their own columns and create their own Newsvine groups to discuss areas of common interest. Recently the site added local news and weather, and a "News in Pictures" slideshow from the AP.

This is huge news. Absolutely huge news.
Why? Because Digg didn't make the list. If I remember rightly Time dubbed Newsvine as a 'natural successor' to Digg, and with growing user numbers, community buzz, and change pretty much imminent I think this is one of the biggest community stories around.

I agree. Newsvine is a good site and it is being recognized as such. We, Newsvine has the potential to be very huge. The Time article recognizes this.

Good press and well due. Now, let's live up to it. (I should say continue to live up to it.)

Good news; good to share. If anyone has access to Newsvine Blitz, this should be clipped there. Someone needs to post it on Digg!

It was already on the front page of Digg a while ago. Most of their comments consisted of them saying what a crap list it was and how Digg wasn't on it.

Actually I found it on Digg but I didn't read their comments. I'll go back and see what they say.

Blitz is really for original articles written by Newsviners, rather than seeds.
