Mr. Obama, as he prepares for a general election campaign against Senator John McCain, was seeking to put the controversy over his church behind him. It remains an open question whether this move will do that or will simply draw more attention to his decision to be a member of the church for two decades

This whole Trinity Church fiasco of a product of Obama's lame attempts at damage control. Obama took too long to shat can Wright, and once he did he should of quit the church right then and there. Obama and Michelle sat in the pews many Sundays and Wednesdays for twenty years. Each should have known something detremental to the campaign would occur just from years of prior experience.
If this is an example of how Obama will to handle Amadinejad and the supreme leader in one on one negotiations, we might as well bend over right now.
I guess they're singing Let's All Gather at the River in the Obama camp now.
There will be a gathering at some point, but it's looking less and less likely to me that the river will be the Potomac.
Obama has quit his congregation, too. Based on the response the people offered to that priest's rant, I'd say they'll harbor Wright-like grudges against Obama now.
How did Obama sit there for 20 years and listen to all that racist stuff and NOT leave sooner ?
Clearly it did not bother him.
Lack of judgment on his part to say the least..
I agree. What bothers him now is people found out about it.
